The site, a fill area with heterogeneous materials and low bearing capacity, presented risks of unacceptable differential settlements for the gantry cranes and the terminal's heavy-duty pavement. The challenge was to ensure long-term stability under extreme dynamic loads.

A campaign of boreholes and "in situ" tests (CPT, SPT) was executed to accurately characterize the subsurface layers. The design combined three techniques: stone columns to improve the soft soil, a ribbed foundation slab to distribute loads, and a prefabricated vertical drain system to accelerate consolidation.

The installation of over 1,200 stone columns was monitored with high-precision GPS. A network of piezometers and inclinometers was implemented to verify the soil's behavior in real-time during and after construction, adjusting the process based on the data obtained.

The logistics platform was completed with total settlements within the tolerance margins of ±15 mm, well below the design limit. The solution allowed for an 18% cost saving compared to traditional piling alternatives, demonstrating the effectiveness of ground improvement. The terminal has been operating at full capacity since its inauguration.

"Biriz Yapi's analysis and solution were decisive for the technical and economic viability of this critical project. Their rigor in monitoring gave us complete confidence."
